Research of the Active Contour Method for Diagnostic Analysis of Regions of Interest in Optical Coherence Tomography Images of Retinal Layers

The paper aims to study the method of active contours for selecting zones of interest on OCT-images of the ocular fundus. The urgency of the problem is caused by a large number of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) diseases for diagnostics and monitoring of which the medical doctor spends a large amount of time in quantitative analysis of sensitive biomarkers on OCT-images of the retina, such as retinal fluids, drusen and chorioidea. The developed technology allowed to identify the considered zones of interest on OCT-images with the error not more than 2.5%. The sensitivity of the method to noise in the data was investigated.
