Enhancing Photovoltaic Efficiency in CH3NH3PbI3-based Perovskite Solar Cells through Defect Density Control

Recently, there has been a lot of interest in perovskite solar cells based on CH3NH3PbI3 because of its promise of outstanding performance and inexpensive production. In this work, a SCAPS-based device simulating CH3NH3PbI3-based PV cells is used. In ten stages, the bulk defect density of the active layer is adjusted from
$10^{10}$
to
$10^{15} ~\text{cm} 3$
. The overall findings show that a decreased
$\mathrm{N}_\mathrm{t}$
of CH
3
NH
3
PbI
3
-based PSC maximizes the PV parameters. When flaws reach their minimum
$\left(10^{10} ~\text{cm}^{-3}\right)$
, the resulting improved PV ratios are the following: The observed values are 89.12% FF,
$22.64\text{mA}/\text{cm}^{2} \text{JSC}$
, 1.39 V
$\text{Voc}$
, and 28.11 PCE. These results emphasize how crucial it is to lower the N
t
of PSCs based on CH3NH3PbI3 to achieve high efficiency. PSCs based on CH3NH3PbI3 active layers have the potential to be a greener and more environmentally friendly choice to conventional PSCs that require greater study and development.
