Research on External Breakage Prevention of Transmission Lines Based on Laser Point Cloud and Visible Light Matching

External damage is one of the main causes of power transmission line tripping. To address the issues of poor visualization and low accuracy of power transmission line external damage systems using only LiDAR or visible light cameras, visible light imaging and LiDAR point cloud fusion technology are introduced. The current monitoring systems based on image technology do not have three-dimensional spatial distance information, which often generates a large amount of false alarm data, reducing the credibility and practicality of the system. The use of LiDAR three-dimensional point cloud monitoring technology can provide quantitative spatial information and solve the high false alarm problem of image monitoring technology. The drone comes with an integrated setup to concurrently acquire LiDAR point cloud data and visible light shadow image data. Initially, the laser point cloud data undergoes denoising, filtering, and classification to differentiate ground and non-ground laser point clouds. Subsequently, through coordinate conversion, the laser point cloud data and visible light shadow image data are aligned within the identical coordinate system. Then, the spectral data from the visible light shadow image is matched with the corresponding laser point cloud to recreate the three-dimensional depiction of the real-world scene from the point cloud, serving the purpose of detecting and examining external damage to transmission lines. This innovation significantly enhances the precision and effectiveness of transmission line damage inspection while providing an intuitive visualization.
