A Video Encryption Technique Using an Enhanced RC6 Algorithm

As technology advances, so do the methods of securing data and protecting information. Cryptography using an encryption algorithm is a method to protect data and information. Among the encryption algorithms is the RC6 Algorithm, which was enhanced to provide better security and performance. The algorithm was expanded using a 1024-bit Word Size, 16 Registers, and a 2048-bit block size. A video file was utilized to test the algorithm's efficiency and performance. The evaluation showed that the enhancement provides a faster encryption time at 86% compared to the original RC6. It also met the criteria for cryptographic randomness using the NIST Cryptographic Metrics. The Brute Force attack evaluation using Cryptool1, the algorithm resulted to be broken in 3.8 vigintillion years. Therefore, the Enhanced RC6 Algorithm using the expanded word size and registers had significantly improved its performance and robustness.
