Robustness analysis of global/local routing in communication networks with interdependent power grid considering cascading failures

Cascading failures severely impact the robustness of modern smart grid. In smart grids, communication networks and power grids are interdependent, so even small failures can lead to the collapse of the entire network. In this study, we construct the interdependence communication power model that considers routing. We investigate the impact of global and local routing policies on system robustness under different attack scenarios by analyzing and comparing the robustness of communication networks with interdependent power grid under global and local routing policies. Our results show that global routing has better robustness against cascading failures compared to local routing policies. In addition, we determine the minimum attack threshold that leads to complete system collapse and observe the variation of system robustness under different initial attack rates and capacity parameters. In conclusion, this study provides insight into the design of effective routing strategies to enhance the robustness of modern smart grid against cascading failures.
