Analyzing the Impact of AI on Knowledge Acquisition of Students

Education is a drawn-out process involving study, training, and teaching to acquire knowledge, skills, values, and habits. It fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. However, developing technology also impacts the education system by adopting specific methods; one of the important ones is artificial intelligence or AI. This paper investigates the transformative influence of AI-based tools on human creativity and problem-solving skills and the impacts on students than already existing conventional methods. A group of 126 students was considered as a part of the experiment to understand if there is any improvement in the explanation given by AI with modified commands and if there is any value addition in the level of knowledge of the students provided by AI with the frequency of AI usage. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and Mann Whitney U Test difference tests were used to understand the quality improvement differences with repeated use of AI and the difference in knowledge acquisition between more and less frequent users. The results indicated that using AI showed an improvement with modified use. The frequency of AI use didn't significantly impact the students' existing knowledge. Significant progress in further knowledge acquisition was realized for students using AI more than three times a week. The study sheds light on the importance of the frequency of AI usage in maximizing its benefits for students, suggesting practical implications for integrating AI into educational settings.
