Design and Evaluation of IDMA-OFDM Simulink Model for Underwater Communication

Because the water column in different sections of the ocean has varied properties, underwater communication has special obstacles. In this setting, conventional cellular communication techniques are useless. The most promising technique for underwater communication is found to be acoustics. They are, nonetheless, vulnerable to intersymbol interference and substantial delay spread due to multipath phenomena. To address these problems, a combination of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Interleave Division Multiple Access (IDMA) technologies is suggested. In contrast to the 64 QAM approach that was previously employed, this study uses a 128 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) technique within an IDMA-OFDM Simulink model. Bit Error Rate (BER) against Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) study is used for performance evaluation, and the results show that the proposed technique effectively reduces error bursts and delay spread. The results demonstrate that the use of 128 QAM in an IDMA-OFDM architecture enhances underwater communication systems' performance and provides a more reliable solution for multi-access underwater situations.
