Simulations of the 5G Beamforming Performance for mm Wave Bands in an Urban Scenario

The future information society will rely on 5G mobile communications to provide a wide variety of applications including completely new industrial and professional services. In order to meet these challenges, significantly higher mobile data throughputs are required which is possible by using higher frequency bands in the mmWave domain. The beamforming technique is applied to compensate for the higher pathloss due to the larger frequency and improve the signal quality. A practical application test case of beamforming in mm Wave 5G bands in an urban scenario is presented in this study.
