Securing the SCADA System from DDOS Attacks Identifying Using A Decision Tree

This paper presents a methodology that utilizes Decision Trees to identify and mitigate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. The procedure entails deploying a decision tree model that effectively distinguishes between normal and malicious network traffic to promptly identify and classify DDoS attacks. This highlights the importance of SCADA systems and their vulnerability to DDoS attacks. A dynamic proxy defense method is required to protect a critical SCADA system from DDoS attacks with a Decision Tree to distinguish between genuine and attack packets. It subsequently delineates the research aim, methodologies employed, findings, and potential advantages of employing decision trees for this objective. Finally, it suggests possible directions for further investigation to improve the methodology. Even when they only occupy 10% of the network, a dynamic proxy density of 0.5% is sufficient to suppress over 99% of attackers.
