HFSS Enables Cold Plasma Simulation for RF and Microwave Applications

This paper considers the novel features of cold plasma as a user-defined material parameter in HFSS, which, in turn, allows engineers and scientists to explore the potential applications in the diversified areas of RF/microwave. Users can easily feed the plasma parameters of their interest and investigate the nature of wave-plasma interaction. As HFSS offers gold-standard electromagnetic simulation, this feature enables full-wave self-consistent EM wave propagation in a plasma medium. For illustration, in this paper, we have demonstrated the HFSS solution in communications blackout and designed a tunable power divider. Various details and many other case studies will be discussed at the conference.
