A Quad-Slope Smart Gate Driver with Mixed-Signal Auto-Timing Technique for Power Devices Segment Control

This study categorizes the power devices' turn-on process into four stages with distinct gate rise slopes to enable segmented functionality. An innovative mixed-signal auto-timing (MSAT) technique is introduced to achieve segmented control with a width modulation range and high control precision. Furthermore, to enhance flexibility in common-mode noise control, the closed-loop enhanced control (CLEC) technique is proposed to adaptively regulate common-mode noise within a predefined range. The quad-slope smart gate driver proposed in this study is implemented in a 180-nm 40 V BCD process. The implementation results demonstrate its effectiveness in achieving segmented control under different target dv/dt values.
