The Efficacy of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) Crop Automated Monitoring System (SCAMS)

This study aims to remediate the issue of plant biodiversity undervaluation by proposing an automated irrigation system with increased configuration options for the sunflower crop. Despite being a valuable protein source, sunflower crops’ adaptability to climate change, drought, heat, and soil salinity changes are limited. The proposed solution includes IoT technology for data collection regarding weather, moisture, temperature, and soil fertility. Previous studies have emphasized the importance of managing resources to meet the crop’s demands for optimal output, including good seed-to-soil contact, temperature, and water. The study proposes using a wireless sensor network to monitor and automate agricultural procedures for sunflower crops, which can help farmers save costs and increase output while contributing to plant biodiversity conservation.
