Voltage Endurance of Mechanically Fatigued Epoxy-Fiberglass Laminate

Epoxy-glass laminates are utilized in a variety of areas in the electrical insulation markets, including as structural components. This paper is a continuation of the investigation of voltage endurance of a high temperature epoxy-fiberglass laminate, G11. Here, mechanical aging is considered. The premise of this mechanical aging study is that at some level, mechanical fatigue can induce damage that influences voltage endurance. Clarifying the mechanical fatigue trend is important to understanding the voltage endurance of the laminate and a first step in examining the effect of mechanical fatigue on dielectric breakdown mechanisms at moderate field levels.
