Enhancing Wind Farm Reliability Through Offline Partial Discharge Testing with Damped AC Technique

Energy demands and increasing energization trends require clean sustainable energy sources, which has pushed wind energy expansion at an exponential rate across the globe. It is crucial for these systems to be reliable and stable in the long term. This is particularly dependent on the inter-array and export cable networks in the system. Offline partial discharge testing with the damped alternating current (DAC) voltage technique emerges as a powerful solution for enhancing the reliability of these cable networks. This allows for the detection of partial discharge and insulation defects in cable systems. This paper also discusses a case study which shows how defects in the cable system can be diagnosed effectively using DAC technique.
