Design and Implementation of All-Optical Logic Gates Based On XPM Effect In A Phase-Shifted Fiber Bragg Grating

This paper focuses on the implementation of nonlinear switching based all-optical logic gates using phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings (PS-FBG). The approach employs Coupled Mode Theory (CMT) and Cross-Phase Modulation (XPM) in conjunction with PS-FBG to realize various logic gates. Diverse logic functionalities result from different combinations of pump signals with distinct phase shifts. The desired logic gate operation is achieved through either the transmitted or reflected signal from the respective output ports. The paper provides detailed setups for each PS-FBG corresponding to specific logic gates, accompanied by comprehensible diagrams. Verification is conducted through the conventional truth tables and the proposed structure timedomain behavior of transmission and reflection port outputs using MATLAB simulations.
