Meeting Latency Constraints in Wi-Fi Through Coordinated OFDMA

Multi-AP coordination is currently under consideration as one of the key candidate features to meet the requirements of Ultra High Reliability (UHR) Wi-Fi networks. The goal is to introduce a form of coordination among a set of Access Points (APs) to enforce a transmission schedule and improve the overall network performance in terms of latency, throughput, and reliability. In this work, we present a coordinated OFDMA (c-OFDMA) transmission schema for meeting latency constraints in multi-AP networks. Then, we implemented the proposed schema within the ns-3 Multi-AP Coordination (MAPC) framework. Finally, we evaluate the performance of c-OFDMA and open the ground to further investigations. Multi-AP coordination through c-OFDMA allows for a consistent reduction of the network latency while keeping the network throughput stable.
