Remote Monitoring System of Water Quality for Shrimp Fishery Pond Based on Microcontroller

This paper presents development and application of water quality monitoring system for a shrimp farm using microcontroller. Shrimp farm is a prospective business due to the high demand for shrimp products from domestic and overseas countries. In shrimp farming, water quality monitoring is very important. This assures all parameters of water quality are acceptable and the shrimp can optimally grow. For the traditional farmer, water quality checking is carried out by some traditional techniques that may lead to some inaccuracies. To assist the water quality monitoring, a water quality monitoring system using microcontroller is developed and used. The measured water quality parameters include pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and temperature. A number of sensors are employed to read some data and proceed them to NodeMCU ESP32 microcontroller for further process. Upon process completion, the results are displayed on the LCD screen. These are real-time results from the measurement. For continuous water quality monitoring, the results are stored in a data logger to enable monitoring in a specific time interval. This real-time monitoring may also be observed using the web or smartphone using Blynk Application. To indicate the fluctuation some graphical presentations are used. Furthermore, some numerical data are also given to accompany the graphics. To confirm the accuracy, the results are benchmarked with the measurements using standard meters. It is confirmed that the measurement results given by the monitoring system are sufficiently close to those given by the meters.
