Power Management Strategy of AC/DC Hybrid Microgrids Based on Integrating Battery SoC Conditions to State Logic Control Algorithm

This paper presents an advanced Power Management Strategy (PMS) tailored for a hybrid AC/DC microgrid; a State Logic Control (SLC) algorithm that dynamically adjusts based on battery State of Charge (SoC) levels. This ensures optimal power flow within the proposed microgrid. The primary power source is grid electricity, supplemented by an integrated photovoltaic (PV) system and lithium-ion batteries serving as a robust secondary power reserve. A Two-level inverter interconnects the main and secondary power buses, employing a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller to maintain balanced power between AC/DC buses. The PMS incorporates DC-DC converters for both the PV array and the battery storage, integrating SoC parameters into the control algorithm to enhance performance. The proposed PMS core objectives include maximizing the efficiency of the PV and battery systems, fulfilling the power demands of the load at high efficiency, and minimizing electricity bill costs. The proposed PMS is demonstrated through MATLAB/Simulink simulations across various power load scenarios.
