Communication System’s Channel Capacity in Inhomogeneous Continuums with a Given Spatial Structure

The paper considers a model of an inhomogeneous continuum, which is a layered structure with varying permittivity. The simulation of the channel matrix in a quasi-continuously layered inhomogeneous continuum has shown that there are limitations on the area of effective signal reception space. The channel capacity of a 2x2 MIMO system is investigated as a function of an interval of spatial correlation, a variance of dielectric permittivity, a signal-to-noise ratio, and a spatial structure as well. The ergodic capacity, the "water filling" capacity and capacity of OSTBC system are compared.
