Securing Durres Port's Digital Transformation: Cybersecurity Strategy for Maritime Industry

Digital transformation has influenced critical sectors of important institutions, among them the Port of Durres in Albania, which is essential for the nation's transport logistics. Technological challenges and infrastructure enhancement lead this institution in facing the century's technological challenge: data security against cyber threats.The implementation of digital technologies in maritime operations has numerous benefits, including access control, cargo management, check-in systems and maritime traffic control increasing operational efficiencies. These improvements expose ports and maritime facilities to a variety of cyber threats, including data breaches and ransomware attacks.This study presents a questionnaire designed to evaluate the situation and the risks from cyber threats at the Port of Durres through quantitative methods that interpret important topics such as security measures, protocols, and how well the staff is prepared to handle cyber attacks.In conclusion, the study points out the critical need for a balanced approach to digital transformation, by achieving this balance, the Port of Durres can overcome the challenges of the digital era, affirming its leadership in transport logistics and establishing a model for digital safety in critical infrastructure sectors.
