Technologies Behind the Humanitarian Demining: A Review

In this paper, we reviewed existing demining methods to identify opportunities for improvement. We analyzed approaches involving animals, metal detectors, and heterogeneous technologies. We addressed the challenges of humanitarian demining, covering affected countries, environmental conditions, limitations of existing methods, research trends in this field, and humanitarian implications. The possibilities arising from the development of new demining methods, integrating unmanned aerial vehicle technologies with artificial intelligence, have been considered.
