Coil Independent Control for Driving APMSM With Multiple Passive Carriers

For the annular permanent magnet synchronous motor (APMSM), a novel strategy for driving multi-passive carriers is innovatively proposed in this article. The strategy abandons the concept of “phase” in motor control, adopts a single coil as the basic control unit, and independently controls the currents of the coils coupled with the carrier. This strategy can realize a single stator driving multiple carriers, effectively reducing the spacing of carriers and lowering the system's copper loss. An experimental platform based on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and a digital signal processor (DSP) is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
