Numerical Analysis on Three-phase Coaxial HTS Cable With Copper Protective Layers

Based on the electromagnetic thermal coupling simulation model, the loss and temperature characteristics of three-phase coaxial high-temperature superconductors with copper protective layers were analyzed, and the effects of harmonic currents and changing the position of copper protective layers were explicitly explored. The results show that structure B of winding the C-phase copper protective layer on the outer side of the superconducting layer can significantly reduce the AC loss and temperature of the cable under any working condition and increase the cable's ability to carry current. Under harmonic currents, the 9th harmonic causes the most significant loss and temperature increase in the cable. As the harmonic order increases, the effect of structure C on reducing temperature rise becomes more significant.
