Optimization Design of Tubular Permanent Magnet Synchronous Linear Motors Considering Machining and Assembly Errors

This paper proposes an optimization design method for the tubular permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (TPMSLM) using Halbach array. For this TPMSLM, a subdomain model considering the longitudinal end effect is established by setting virtual permanent magnet (PM) regions at both ends of the Halbach array. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through a comparison with the finite element method (FEM). Subsequently, a surrogate model is developed using the proposed subdomain model, and an uncertain optimization model considering machining and assembly errors is developed based on the interval order and the possibility theory. Compared to its initial design, the average thrust of the optimized motor is increased by 12.7% and its PM material usage is reduced by 3.7%, significantly improving theoverall performance of the TPMSLM.
