Ferromagnetic Behavior Induced bBy Structural Distortion in Pristine g-C3N4 Pellets Prepared via Isostatic Pressure

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is a two-dimensional (2D) material based on nonmagnetic atoms and shows many physical and chemical properties. In point of view of magnetic properties powder samples exhibits only a diamagnetic behavior. Otherwise, when we applied pressure on samples an intrinsic weak ferromagnetic behavior was observed at room temperature, where samples present coercive field and remanent magnetization. For understand this behavior we propose the coupling of the magnetic moments produced by pairs of spin ½ - spin ½ electrons located in a magnetic polarization plane due to an structural distortion observed through x-ray diffraction pattern. We assume that the magnetic moment comes from electrons in the π-bonding lattice, that, are affected by the deformation caused. The results found here are quite promising because of their advantages over materials that already have a magnetic moment at which lattice distortions control magnetic properties.
