Impact of Physical and Technological Parameters on Thin Film Silicon Solar Cells Performance

Crystalline silicon solar cells are widely available on the market and among the most suitable for cost-effective photovoltaic systems with an acceptable efficiency; however, these photovoltaic cells still require further development and optimization for higher performance. In this paper, a simulation study of thin-film crystalline silicon solar cells is presented; the study is made under the optical intensity of AM1.

solar radiation with varying incidence intensity and angles. The impact of some physical parameters such as temperature and solar illumination intensity and technological parameters such as doping and thickness of regions constituting on the photovoltaic characteristics of solar cells are presented and discussed during this work. The simulation results show the role and impact of each parameter on the performance of the different cells studied. The best settings give at ambient temperature an overall efficiency within standards.
