Influence of Mechanical Imperfections on Electrical Characteristics in Fault Detection Through Signal Processing

This article deals with the study of the influence of mechanical faults on electrical quantities using signal processing methods for fault diagnosis. The mechanical fault addressed in this study is the localized crack-type bearing fault in the bearing rings. The electrical quantities utilized include: the machine's stator current, Park currents, and a new electrical current derived from the Park currents. The first phase of this study involves analyzing the behavior of the stator current in response to a bearing fault. In the second phase, Park signals are examined to evaluate their influence. Finally, in the last phase, a new electrical current is scrutinized. The results obtained demonstrate that the new electrical current contains essential and adequate temporal and frequency information for diagnosing the condition of bearings based on electrical signals.
