Simulation of the Boost Micro-Converter for Photovoltaic Applications

This paper proposes a photovoltaic system modeling and characterization to estimate the parameters and the characteristic and electrical behavior of an integrated planar micro inductor dedicated to the DC/DC converter regarding irradiance and temperature condition. At first, a comprehensive study on the topology of hexagonal inductor is presented into a Boost micro-converter. This topology allowing obtaining better performance, high inductance value. The model presents topology and analytical equations depending on both technological and geometric characteristics to evaluate the totality of its components. These equations can better estimate the electrical parameters of the desired inductor. Secondly, we focus on the implementation of a MPPT command for controlling the DC / DC containing an integrated inductor to operate the PV array at maximum power (MPP).
