The Early Detection and Diagnosis of Broken Rotor Bar Faults in Induction Motor Using Torque and Speed Spectral Analysis

This article concerns the diagnosis and detection of rotor bar failure in the squirrel cage induction motor. In this study, we present a spectral analysis technique for detecting rotor faults in the squirrel-cage induction motor. This technique studies the behavior of torque and the speed through a spectral analysis. For that, a mathematical model based on the winding function approach to detect this fault is used and frequency resolution is presented. Furthermore, the visualizing of changes and variations of the speed and the torque parameters of the machine in the presence of the fault is also studying. In fact, we apply the spectral analysis of the speed and torque signal diagnostic method, enabling us to define the residuals specific to the concerned fault. The approach adopted is based on the Fast Fourier Transform. MATLAB software will be used to extract our various simulations. Simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed model, and the effectiveness of the technique in detecting rotor faults. To support our model an experimental analysis is presented to confirm that the suggested approach is effective for diagnose broken rotor bar faults condition, to monitoring and damage estimation of induction motor.
