Advanced Speed Control of Asynchronous AC Motor Based On Direct Torque Control

This paper presents a performance improvement with Artificial Neural Networks for the conventional method of Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM), fed by two-level voltage inverter. The artificial intelligence offers advantageous features for controllers such as: high dynamics, smooth operations, stable and robust performance. Which are needed to overcome (DTC) shortness's caused by the traditional (PI) regulators like: Torque Ripples, Parameter Sensitivity, low dynamic Performance at transient and Steady-State periods. The paper also presents a comparison between the proposed (ANN) controller with classic (PI) regulator, the results are obtained through several tests with MATLAB/Simulink which has proved the superiority of the intelligent controller.
