Faults Diagnosis of Electrical Machines through Vibrations Analysis

Electrical machines are important devices that are widely used in industry and people's life. Undesired vibrations are harmful to their safe operation. Vibrations monitoring and analysis in rotating machineries gives information about anomalies developing in the system. It can identify not only specific machine faults but can also simplify repairs by identifying the root cause of the problem. Vibration signatures of a machine under load provides far more information about the internal working of the machine than any other type of electrical, infrared or other NDT testing methods. The vibrations of rotating electrical machines are a good indicator of faults which may arise during their operation. The goal of this paper is to summarize the results of an evaluation of vibration analysis techniques as a method for diagnosis for three phase synchronous motors. For this purpose, an approach by using the Finite Element Method (FEM) is proposed to solve the magneto-mechanical problem.
