Analyzing Electrical Substations: Leveraging Bond Graphs for Diagnosis

Detecting and diagnosing complex systems like electrical substations is crucial for effective condition monitoring, particularly for maintenance planning. Interruptions in maintenance schedules can lead to significant disadvantages impacting the entire distribution network. To address this challenge, this work proposes a detection and isolation approach based on the Bond Graph (BG) method. The BG approach is chosen due to its inherent power-conserving nature, making it suitable for modeling complex systems. Additionally, this study utilizes BG to diagnose electrical substations by generating the fault signature matrix, also known as the Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) Matrix. Simulation results are conducted using the Symbol2000 software environment to validate our approach, yielding satisfactory results. This comprehensive approach offers a promising method for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of electrical substation diagnosis and maintenance planning.
