A Comparative Analysis Study Between Sliding Mode control and Back-Stepping Control For Maximum Power Point Tracking in Photovoltaic Systems

The photovoltaic systems became widespread around the world which led to researchers' interest in this field. Atmospheric conditions and load uncertainty present the greatest challenge in reducing power loss. The objective of this paper is to investigate two robust algorithms named Sliding mode control and Back-Stepping control employed for the purpose of attaining maximal power point tracking (MPPT) in photovoltaic (PV) systems. The proposed MPPT methods are deigned mathematically and tested via MATLAB/Simulink software. The simulation was carried out to validate the efficacy against fast changing irradiation and temperature affect. These MPPT algorithms exhibit highly tracking efficiency with fast response time in addition to low oscillation around MPP and less voltage and current ripple.
