Phaseless Multi-Static Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging

Conventional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) relies on coherent phase information throughout the data collection process for image reconstruction. In this paper, we present a technique for phaseless SAR imaging using a multi-static configuration’ and stochastic waveforms. To reconstruct the SAR images, we employ the Wirtinger flow (WF), a non-convex optimization method. We perform numerical simulations to evaluate the performance of the WF algorithm using our proposed illumination technique. The simulation results demonstrate near-exact recovery with a limited number of resources, in terms of the number of transmitters and receivers. Hence, our proposed imaging technique has applications for realistic phaseless SAR scenarios. We compare the performance of our algorithm with that of the linear reconstruction algorithm used for phaseless radar coincidence imaging.
