Comparative Analysis of Two SVPWM Strategies for Dual Two-Level Inverter Control in Open-End Winding Induction Motors

This paper investigates two strategies of Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) for controlling open-end winding induction motors(OEWIMs) using dual inverters. The conventional SVPWM method involves sector identification, duty cycle calculation, and PWM signal generation. In contrast, the second strategy, termed Direct Gating Pulse Generation, simplifies the process by deriving gating pulses directly from reference voltages. Simulations conducted using MATLAB/Simulink compare the torque and current ripple reduction performance of the two approaches. Results indicate that the Direct Gating Pulse Generation strategy offers improved performance in reducing torque and current ripple, making it a promising approach for dual inverter control systems.
