Fault-Tolerant Direct Torque Control of a Three-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine in Case of Inverter Open-Branch

This paper presents a fault-tolerant DTC strategy control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) affected by an open-branch fault in inverter. To have an active fault-tolerant control system and to guarantee a stability and performance it is necessary to reconfigure the control actions. In fact, open-leg faults are common in electric drive systems and can cause serious damage to machine control and performance. To remedy this problem, the paper proposes the possibility of detecting the fault using the estimated flux. After determining the DTC control scheme, the diagnostic strategy technique is applied to a three-phase PMSM under normal and under open-branch converter fault conditions. Moreover, the fault-tolerant control and open-branch fault diagnosis are studying to confirm the robustness and the stability of the DTC control when the fault occurs. The proposed diagnosis strategy permits to extract a fault accurate indicator of the considered fault. A series of simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and good performance of the proposed model.
