Abstract:

The incorporation of sources of renewable energy into current energy systems brings potential as well as obstacles. Digital Twins, a game-changing technology, have emerged as essential enablers in dealing with these challenges. They offer a virtual reproduction of renewable energy resources, closing the gap between both the digital and physical sectors. This enables real-time monitoring, predictive modeling, and optimization, that improves system efficiency, trustworthiness, and sustainability. Digital Twins compose renewable energy assets, optimizing performance, forecasting maintenance requirements, and optimizing energy capture. They play an important role in grid management, allowing the integration of unpredictable renewable sources into smart grids, hence improving stability and resilience. Furthermore, Digital Twins aid in choosing suitable locations for future renewable energy projects, expediting development processes. However, issues like data security and interoperability have to be addressed.
