High Performance Paper-Based CdTe Qds Sensors For Point-Of- Care Testing Of Uric Acid In Human Urine

The level of uric acid (UA) is strongly linked to hyperuricemia, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease. Uric acid clearance (UAC), defined as the ratio of UA levels in blood and urine, is a critical method for the diagnosis and treatment of related diseases. This method requires collecting and analyzing UA in all urine samples within 24 hours. Due to the lack of point of care testing (POCT) technology, UA levels in urine is less commonly used in clinical practice. In this paper, a paper-based CdTe Qds sensors was proposed to realize fast UA detecting in human urine. The results demonstrated that the sensor has accurate detection performance within the UA concentration range of 0.1 to 0.8 mM. The linear correlation of the measurement results of standard samples and urine samples was over 0.99 and 0.97 respectively. A household POCT device based on the sensor was further proposed. It can automatically detect UA concentration within 15 minutes using only 11 μL urine sample. This technology is expected to achieve the application and promotion of urine uric acid detection in clinical practice, thereby contributing to the household monitoring of related diseases.
