Research on the Carbon Emission Accounting Model for Railway Infrastructure Construction

By analyzing the carbon emission characteristics of railway infrastructure construction in China, this study defines the boundary for carbon emission accounting. A carbon emission accounting model was proposed for the construction phase of railway infrastructure development, which combines the railway Engineering Breakdown Structure and Railway Engineering Quotas. Furthermore, a method is presented to assess the uncertainty of carbon emission factors for building materials based on Data Quality Index and Monte-Carlo simulation. Through a case study, the carbon emission proportions of various engineering categories and construction machinery were determined, as well as the impact of uncertainty in carbon emission factors for steel production processes on the calculation results.
