Cybersecurity Analysis for Monitoring of Hybrid Blockchain-based Eco-friendly Power Generating Units

This research work presents a hybrid blockchain-based eco-friendly energy monitoring framework. A system that gives a constant information-obtaining network for exchanging and monitoring the performance, along with the renewal energy-generating units. It typically works in a troublesome security-challenging environment. Data is gathered and pre-processed by utilizing the “Raspberry Pi” microcontroller Board, linked alongside field sensors framing an “Edge Node (EN)”, which comprises an inbuilt Wi-Fi unit, a generated terminal voltage sensor, load current sensors, an external real-time clock circuit, and other environmental surveillance sensors for fundamental support of the generating unit. These Internet of Things (IoT)based nodes within the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are categorized into distinct entities, namely the “Edge Node (EN)”, “Fog Node (FN)”, “Fog Node Base Station (FNBS)”, and “Cloudlet Server (CS)”. These designations form a hierarchical network structure based on functionalities and task allocations. Within this hybrid blockchain model, the identification and mutual authentication of nodes across diverse communication scenarios are achieved through the implementation of a private Blockchain established among the terminal nodes, specifically the ENs of these IoT-based systems. A public Blockchain is also employed for the subsequent higher level of network nodes, represented by the FNs.
