Implementation of Continuous Collision Monitoring System using Piezoelectric Sensor

This study details the design and development of a Continuous Collision Monitoring System (CCMS) by utilizing a combination of sensors and IoT technologies. The proposed framework is primarily aimed at enhancing safety measures in various environments such as vehicles, industrial machinery, and smart infrastructure. The proposed CCMS integrates multiple sensors including piezoelectric sensors, GPS modules, ultrasonic sensors, and an Arduino microcontroller for real-time collision detection and monitoring. The piezoelectric sensor is utilized for detecting impact or collision events. Additionally, GPS modules are employed to provide location tracking and data logging capabilities. The use of ultrasonic sensors is for proximity sensing and obstacle detection. The Arduino microcontroller serves as the central processing unit, managing data acquisition, analysis, and communication tasks. The integration of IoT technology, specifically the NodeMCU ESP8266, enables wireless connectivity and remote monitoring functionalities. Real-time collision alerts and location information can be transmitted to a central server or mobile application for immediate action or analysis. A buzzer is incorporated to provide audible alerts in case of collision events, enhancing situational awareness for nearby individuals. Furthermore, a relay and motor are integrated into the system to trigger appropriate actions in response to collision events, such as activating emergency brakes or shutting down machinery to prevent further damage or injury. The framework is powered by a suitable power supply, ensuring continuous operation.
