Real-Time Thickness and Length Analysis of Silk Fabric

The production of high-quality silk fabric and garments for export demands meticulous attention to detail, particularly in aspects such as length and thickness. However, variations in tension during the weaving process can lead to unnoticed changes in fabric thickness, impacting overall quality. To address these challenges, it is proposed a real-time Thickness and Length Analysis system for silk fabric. The fabric whose analysis is to be done is allowed to pass between parallel capacitor plates, enabling the system to detect variations in thickness through the principle of change in capacitance value due to change in dielectric media. Simultaneously, the length of the fabric is measured using photoelectric sensor. The decision for export quality is based on predefined criteria for both thickness and length, providing a comprehensive assessment. This research work aims to enhance the precision of silk fabric production, ensuring adherence to stringent export-quality standards and positioning the industry at the forefront of technological innovation.
