Borage Leaf Disease Detection using Deep Learning Models

Cultivated for centuries in traditional Indian medicine, Indian Borage is a valuable medicinal herb used for treating respiratory problems, skin disorders and digestive issues. Plectranthus amboinicus being the plant’s scientific name. It is a tough kind that grows quickly, typically in colder climates and requires less water. During its growing process it faces various diseases due to dryness that can significantly reduce crop health and its yield. To detect the leaf diseases, Deep learning approach comes to the rescue. Models like VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, EfficientNetB0, and Inception-V3 were utilized especially for its Image Classification qualities to detect the leaf disease. Applying Data Augmentation and Preprocessing techniques while performing rigorous training and testing provided accurate results. VGG16 having the highest accuracy of 88.64%. Indian Borage leaf disease detection which is mostly unexplored, offers promising results providing early and precise detection with its Deep Learning Approach.
