The Future of Retail: Harnessing 5G Beyond Networks for Immersive Augmented Reality Shopping Environments

Augmented Reality is a technology that combines the physical world with virtual space to improve how people see the world. The system employs AR interfaces integrated into mobile applications allowing users to visualize interactive overlays of product information and aisle directions. This AR development will make smart shopping and reduce the time consumed for shopping. Utilizing sensor technologies, the AR system helps the user navigate through the supermarket environment and guides users through the most efficient routes to locate desired products. The model begins with the creation of a realistic 3D model representing the interior layout of a typical supermarket. Utilizing Unity’s robust capabilities, a seamless navigation system is implemented through the incorporation of NavMesh technology, ensuring efficient pathfinding for users. Augmented Reality is then integrated using Vuforia, enabling real-time recognition of products through the smartphone camera over the 5G Beyond (i.e. 6G) communication Networks with the ultimate ultra-low Latency and high connectivity and throughput would greatly enhance the user-layer quality of experience in this field. This paper explores how 5G Beyond interacts with AR to influence the rapidly expanding world. The outcomes of this research include the successful development of an indoor navigation system that seamlessly integrates AR technology with Unity and Vuforia, providing an immersive and user-friendly experience for supermarket shoppers. Further enhancements may include additional features such as personalized recommendations, real-time promotions, and interactive shopping lists, further enhancing the utility and appeal of the system.
