Comparison of Levitation Characteristics of HTS 2G Stacked Tapes and YBCO Bulk

High-temperature superconducting (HTS) levitation characteristics are critical for applications such as maglev technology developed for superconducting linear propulsion motors, electromagnetic ejection devices and bearings, etc. In this paper, an analysis is conducted on the levitation characteristics of HTS bulk and stacked tapes. Four HTS stacked tapes-bulk hybrid models are then developed to compare the levitation and guiding characteristics. The results indicate that compared to HTS bulk, stacked tapes can achieve relatively high levitation forces with much less HTS material. The HTS stacked tapes-bulk hybrid model could be a better way to improve the levitation characteristics of HTS.
