Smart Monitoring of Solar Greenhouses: A Cost-Effective Solution

The development of smart monitoring systems for solar greenhouses represents a critical advancement in sustainable agriculture, particularly in isolated rural areas. This research outlines a comprehensive design process for a cost-effective smart monitoring system utilizing a Raspberry Pi as the core component. The system is designed to measure and control electrical (voltage and current) and environmental (temperature and humidity) parameters within a solar-powered greenhouse environment. The specific sensors were selected for their reliability and accuracy in such applications, including the Rogowski coil for current measurement and the ZMPT101B module for voltage monitoring. The experimental setup involved configuring these sensors alongside Raspberry Pi to facilitate real-time data acquisition and control. The testing phase verified the system’s capability to operate remotely, enabling continuous monitoring and adaptive response to environmental variations. Key findings demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in enhancing the operational efficiency and sustainability of greenhouses by optimizing energy usage and maintaining ideal growth conditions. These results underscore the potential of integrating smart technologies in agriculture to achieve energy autonomy and increase productivity.
