Short-term Planning for Power Plants and Investigating Possible Scenarios via Genetic Algorithm

This study addresses a new method for coordination between thermal power plants, wind farms, and hydropower plants. In the proposed method, the amount of power produced in wind farms is calculated according to the power generation graph of wind turbines and the wind speed in the farm. Due to the limitations of hydropower plants, the problem of power generation has been looked at as an optimization problem. In addition, a direct relationship between short-term and long-term studies of the above-mentioned power plants has been established. In the proposed method, the genetic algorithm has been used both as a solver of the optimization problem and as a scenario designer for various functions of long-term planning and the means of participation in the electricity market. In this study, a network with 15 thermal units and the data of the Manjil wind farm as a wind power plant, and also the data of the Karun 3 dam as a hydropower plant have been used.
