Enhancing Demand Side Management through Clustering Feeders with Industrial Consumption

The consumption patterns of 496 medium voltage feeders from an electricity distribution company in Iran were analyzed, considering weekdays and weekends in both summer and winter seasons. The data was clustered in two phases using the K-means method. In the first phase, feeders with predominant industrial loads were separated from the other feeders. In the second phase, the consumption patterns of industrial feeders were evaluated in terms of their participation in demand response programs. The results indicated that out of the 118 industrial feeders analyzed, participation in the desired programs has been minimal. There is a significant potential to encourage industrial consumers to implement demand response programs.
