A Combined AHP-GP model for optimizing physician scheduling: A case study

Scheduling physicians is an intricate undertaking involving numerous rules, often conflicting, encompassing factors like limitations on consecutive work hours. This entails both hard and soft constraints for a monthly planning horizon. Strict adherence to hard constraints is mandatory, while soft constraints can be flexibly violated when deemed necessary. In this research, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been employed to calculate the relative importance values of the soft constraints in the context of optimizing physician scheduling. These values are utilized as coefficients for deviations from soft constraints in the objective function.
