Improvement of the supplier selection process in the Automotive Industry: Case study with a Moroccan Tier 1 Company

The automotive industry's supply chain management is undergoing a challenging phase due to the transition from fuel to electrification. This shift is significantly impacting three key aspects: sustainability, resilience, and green behavior. As the supplier selection process (SSP) is an interesting field in the automotive supply chain, this paper aims to explain the interest that companies are giving to the supplier selection problem according to a literature review of the most important cited articles in the last decade. The paper identifies the most important criteria for supplier evaluation and selection by examining the key steps that constitute the SSP. Furthermore, the paper incorporates a case study detailing the SSP employed by a Moroccan company operating as a tier 1 supplier to different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) in the automotive sector.
